Yoshi's Village is a small coastal village that is visited during Paper Mario. It is located on Lavalava Island. As its name suggests, the village is entirely inhabited by Yoshis, who are led by the rather plump Village Leader. The buildings in this village are all made of straw, bamboo and other natural materials. There is a Toad House and an item shop named Yoshi's Cabana. Mario comes upon this village during his journeys in Chapter 5. During his adventures here, he helps a Cheep Cheep named Sushie round up the group of young Yoshis called the Fearsome 5 and return them to their parents. In return for this deed, Mario is given the Jade Raven by the Village Leader, which he uses to gain access to the deeper parts of the thick Jade Jungle. There is a blue pipe in Toad Town Tunnels that, once unlocked, can serve as a shortcut between Yoshi's Village and Toad Town area. Residents[edit]| Character | Description |

Sushie | The babysitter of the Yoshi kids. She is stuck in a tree in Jade Jungle while chasing the kids. Items found[edit]In addition to the items listed below, several items can be purchased from Yoshi's Cabana, and two Star Pieces can be obtained from Kolorado here. Chuck Quizmo also has the chance to appear here and 64 Star Pieces in total can be obtained. Area Tattles[edit]- 'Yoshis seem to love the beach. Just looking at those guys basking in the sun makes me feel very relaxed. And yet, even though I'd love to just sleep on the beach, I'm excited to move on. Nothing compares to adventure, that's for sure!'

Yoshi's Island 64 Prototype 1996
Mario, Mario - where fore art thou, Mario? With the Ultra 64 only a few months away, the era of the Super NES is almost over and we've still only seen one 16-bit Mario game. I tell ya, it really makes my blood boil. That's why it's so cool to see Yoshii's Island: Super Mario World 2 make it out before the Super NES fades away. The game may not actually have Mario in it, but you can feel his touch in every aspect of the gameplay.

- Yoshi's Island (64) (ヨッシーアイランド), erroneously referred to as Yoshi's Story when first incorporated, also alternatively known as Super Happy Tree, is a starter stage in Super Smash Flash 2. It is one of Yoshi 's home stages, coming from the original Super Smash Bros.

Yoshi's Island is the only Smash 64 stage to return in Melee, but not in either version of Super Smash Bros. Its theme, however, does appear on Melee 's Yoshi's Island stage in Super Smash Bros. Yoshi's Island is the only content from the Yoshi series to have been unlockable, as it was unlockable in Melee.
The graphics are very reminiscent of Super Mario World - resembling it perhaps too closely. SMW was the first game ever for the Super NES, and 16-bit graphics (especially Nintendo's) have come a long way since then. Fortunately, the gameplay is solid throughout. As Yoshi, Mario's dino-buddy from SMW, it's your job to return a lost baby to its home. The quirky, cutesy puzzle-laden action that earned Mario the big bucks is present in every inch of every stage, with new enemies and play mechanics thrown in to spice up the mix.
Still, Yoshi's Island could've been done better. It doesn't really need rendered graphics, just more time put into a project that Nintendo clearly didn't have faith in (they almost didn't bring it to our shores). Hopefully Nintendo is gonna concentrate on these types of games more in the future. They may not appeal to the 'blood 'n' gore' audience that the company has worked so hard to win over, but there's always a place in gamers' hearts for a fun, well-made game. And Nintendo - please don't skimp on the Ultra 64 Mario. We've been patent for way too long.
