My nana (maternal grandfather) is probably the only one in the family who writes. He belongs to a generation that was defined by diligence and discipline. Although he is a lawyer by profession, he loves to read and write, and is a connoisseur and impresario of classical music and dance. I don’t remember for how long it’s been around, but it’s a tradition that every year he writes a poem on Holi and sends it to everyone in the family. These poems are titled “होली का हुड़दंग देखिये” and are generally a satire on the state of affairs.
Therefore, when I went home this time I was surprised to find a poem that he had sent us in the beginning of 2012 (actually the poem was not dated, but going by the contents I think it has to be 2012). This poem is titled “नए वर्ष का नया सवेरा “. Like most of his other poems this one too is a (“व्यंग्य”) satire, and was a pleasure to read, as always.
